Chinese hospital

This project consisted in the design of an iconic and cultural Chinese public garden, located in the heart of Chinatown, in Montreal. Designed as a space for rehabilitation and encounter, the garden integrates universal accessibility, including for the blind, and offers a variety of activities adapted to residents and visitors. Combining heritage identity and innovation, this tailor-made project puts complex challenges related to its establishment in the city center, along Viger Avenue, on contaminated soil with significant water constraints.

Required

The realization included the production of the necessary plans, specifications, addenda and permits, as well as close coordination with the CIUSSS Center-Sud, the Foundation and the various professionals involved. Special attention has been paid to stylistic research and to the integration of biophilic elements, such as water features and dense vegetation, in order to attenuate urban noises and provide an immersive experience.

Results obtained

Having become a unique intergenerational meeting place, this garden has significantly improved the quality of life of users while contributing to the enhancement of Montreal's Chinese heritage. The production of high quality 3D visuals supported the presentation and fundraising efforts with donors and institutions.
